Maurizio Cervellati is one of the most significant Italian artists in the field of informal, material art. His works convey an extraordinary expressive force combined with a vigorous formal structure, giving life to patterns that reflect an endless value. In this inextricable interplay, color plays a fundamental role, not only as an aesthetic element but as a true pictorial resource, capable of making each composition unique. The artist constantly explores the ambivalence of perception, oscillating between reality and illusion, between silences and magical suggestions. The material Cervellati uses is deeply connected to nature, the source of vital force. He prefers natural materials, which he enriches with other components, creating works where adhesives, resins, sands, acrylics, and paints blend together. These elements allow him to achieve significant textural layers, sometimes even in relief, giving his works a unique intensity and depth. The artist focuses on finding a chromatic harmony that, beyond aesthetics, becomes the means to convey strong and passionate emotions. Each of his gestures, though seemingly spontaneous, is the result of a deliberate act that leads to continuous creative evolution. For Cervellati, every color carries a precise meaning, a symbolic value that transcends mere visual perception. Color becomes a powerful tool of rupture with everyday life, a form of protest against a society the artist observes with a critical eye. His approach always starts from instinct but is then guided by a sensitivity that leads him to give form to what becomes a true pictorial narrative. Torment and suffering, as well as reflection on the world’s changes, intertwine in his works, adding an emotional dimension that makes each piece a complex and profound journey. Cervellati’s expressive quality is manifested through a material that, more than just a medium, becomes a guide in his search for new compositions, where nature itself helps complete the meaning of his narrative.
