Romeo Sandrin

Biography and criticism

Romeo Sandrin, sculptor and graphic artist, was born in Santa Giustina in Colle (PD) in 1952, where he lives and works. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice in 1976, under the guidance of Master Viani. Over the years, he has refined his skills in all sculpture techniques, benefiting from the teachings and advice of several nationally renowned artists, including Othmar Winkler, Pasquale Di Fabio, and Alberto Viani. He has been active in the art world since 1970, gaining attention from critics and the public through numerous exhibitions and competitions at both national and international levels, winning several awards. As evidence of his high artistic value, he was appointed “Senator Academician” for sculpture. He was unanimously awarded the title of “Witness of Culture 2019” by the jury (composed of the cultural assessors and councilors of 11 municipalities) during the Galà della Cultura del Camposampierese. Romeo Sandrin’s artistic path develops in a continuous tension between tradition and innovation, revealing a profound connection with the human figure and his inner world. His sculptures are characterized by a realism that has its roots in classical art, but which is enriched with a surprising modernity. The artist, in fact, manages to merge the solid sculptural tradition with a contemporary vision, creating works that speak of an intense search for form and expression. His creations, while maintaining a rigorous respect for formal beauty, go beyond the mere imitation of reality, exploring the dynamics of life and movement. His sculpture is never static; it is rather a game of solids and voids, of lights and shadows, where every surface tells a story of tensions and emotions. This approach allows his works to convey an expressive force that goes beyond the mere artistic object, becoming a dialogue with the viewer.
