Daniele De Summa

Biography and criticism

Born in Taranto on November 3, 1987, he developed a passion for drawing at a young age, teaching himself the art of portraiture. At the age of 19, he began working with oil painting. He quickly mastered the technique, creating new artworks in a variety of styles—ranging from portraiture and figurative art to surrealism. Through painting, he embarked on a spiritual journey in search of his inner self, producing works centered on meditation and spirituality. These pieces evoke a surreal atmosphere filled with color and light. His portfolio also includes vibrant portraits of people and animals, characterized by expressive forms and a bold use of color. The artist stands out for a pictorial journey deeply influenced by inner exploration and universal spirituality. Fascinated by iconic figures such as Van Gogh, Dalí, Warhol, and Caravaggio, and driven by a passion for 1960s rock music, he has managed to blend various artistic and cultural influences into a personal style that moves between portraiture, figurative art, and surrealism. His painting becomes a vehicle for meditation and introspection: the colors, lights, and shadows in his works create a suspended, almost dreamlike atmosphere that invites the viewer on an inner journey. Each canvas thus becomes a space for reflection, where the boundaries between reality and imagination dissolve, allowing the most authentic dimension of the self to emerge.
