Margherita Casadei

Biography and criticism

Margherita Casadei was born in Cesena on June 26, 1982. Always in love with colors and music, she began painting almost suddenly around the age of 16, getting easel, colors and brushes as a gift for her birthday. First exhibition in Bologna at the age of 19 at a bookstore, Since 2014 she has been painting women at the window who become a symbol of her art: the woman looking out the window represents the point of view on the world and reiterates the need of man to reflect, admire creation and seek the beauty that saves. Through contemplation the soul becomes more beautiful and refined. Margherita Casadei’s artistic journey is a continuous exploration that began during her time in classical high school and continued throughout her university years. At the heart of this exploration is the human figure—often depicted as female, as the feminine form resonates more closely with her way of feeling and being—along with its struggles and communicative power. The human figure carries metaphorical meanings and layers: in her paintings, there is a careful attention to emotions and vulnerabilities on one side, and on the other, a fascination with dance and music (symbols of life) and with the ballerina, a symbol of harmony, lightness, balance, and vital energy. Other key subjects in her artistic research include cats and dogs, animals capable of forming truly special relationships with humans, as well as motherhood, a recurring source of inspiration. Casadei seeks to capture the intensity of everyday moments and the depth within the simplicity of small gestures through transparent layers alternating with bold tones. Margherita Casadei aims to express a world close to the human soul, one that also offers respite to individuals, healing the soul through art, far from material limitations. Her first exhibition was in Bologna in 2002 at a well-known bookstore in the city center, where she held a bi-monthly show. She later held both solo and group exhibitions in Ravenna, Forlimpopoli, and Forlì. Between 2014 and 2016, she participated in prestigious art events in Forlì, Piacenza, and Innsbruck. In October 2015, she was awarded the Oscar for Visual Arts in Monte Carlo, Monaco, and the Golden Mercury for Art in Cesenatico in January 2016. As a painter and poet, she actively contributes to the cultural field, earning great success both from the public and critics alike.
