Lorenzo Aliani

Biography and criticism

The 19th-century Florentine painter, known for his landscape paintings, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence from 1822 to 1831. He participated in several academic exhibitions, including those of 1845 and 1848, the latter of which featured his painting **”Ferruccio Ferito da Maramaldo in Gavinana”**. In 1851, he took part in the Florence Promoting Exhibition, showcasing works such as **”View of the Broken Bridge in Rome”** and **”View of Naples”**. In 1854, he exhibited again at the Promotrice, presenting **”Piazza di Siena and the Cathedral of Siena”**, and sent several views of Florence, Naples, Verona, and Venice to the Promotrice of Genoa. Among his most famous works are **”A Street in Pozzuoli”** and **”Portoferraio on the Island of Elba”**, both from 1843 and held in the Uffizi, as well as “View of the Bell Tower of Florence Cathedral”, which is kept at the Topographical Museum in Florence.
