Giuseppe Zanda

Biography and criticism

Born in Latina in 1971, he lives and works in Priverno, in the hilly Pontine hinterland, a land rich in history, art and nature, which has influenced and determined his nature and passions. Fascinated by colors and matter in its infinite forms, from an early age he cultivated a love for painting, always experimenting with new techniques and paths, both independently and by following some local and Roman artists, from whom he learned the fundamental pictorial practices and the way of observing and reproducing only after having absorbed what the eye sees. He has always combined this activity with the research and use of different materials such as vitreous pastes, resins, stuccos, which he uses for restorations and for particular creations. However, his first love remains that of colours, broken down, filtered and continually re-proposed in the incessant transformation of light. Giuseppe Zanda, known as Pino Zanda, is a self-taught artist who has developed a well-structured artistic path, demonstrating significant skill in his painting practice. His technical ability, particularly in the use of color, stands out as one of his defining features. His approach to painting is fluid and confident, applying various techniques, from oil on different supports to mixed media, including pastel interventions, all with remarkable expressive power. What is most striking in his work is his ability to create a strong visual atmosphere, with light playing a central role. His paintings do more than simply represent the beauty of what surrounds him; they transform it, giving it a magical quality, captured through reflections and nuances that only his brush can define so vibrantly. Zanda’s work is not merely a reproduction of reality, but rather a reinterpretation full of energy and emotion, exuding warmth and vitality. Pino Zanda masters the use of color ranges, which, skillfully juxtaposed and orchestrated, bring life to landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and scenes of everyday life, all united by a distinctive luminosity. His art is characterized by an enhanced vision that goes beyond simple mimesis, conveying a profound and personal emotion that springs from his sensitivity and inner vision. His paintings, born from a keen and curious eye on the world around him, offer an emotional narrative that invites the viewer to engage in his interpretation of reality. Ultimately, Zanda is an artist who knows how to blend technique with feeling, imbuing his works with an aesthetic value that is not only visual but emotional, making each of his canvases a captivating and luminous experience.
